About the California Pop and Jazz Council
The California Pop and Jazz Council is a group of individuals who are involved in actions which start with creating quality music. We are dedicated to elevating the public's perception of the value of the rich cultural heritage of American pop and jazz music. We want to improve and enhance the quality of performances rendered by this genre's musical artists, and we'd like to foster and create environments which will support these goals and purposes.
As we realize that we are more and more a community, we can help ourselves and each other by our actions. It's the best of all worlds, people coming together and creating good results for themselves and others.
We are a new organization, going through growing changes, learning as we go, and setting policies along the way. The organization arose from the people coming to the Sportsmen's Lodge jam session in Studio City. It's a great group; talented, supportive, and interested in learning and developing careers.
So far, our events include showcase performances of our members at The Jazz Bakery in Culver City, The Hollywood Studio Bar and Grill in Hollywood, and other venues highlighting our members’ individually!
We have a Board, which meets regularly, and a general membership, which holds meetings every 3 to 5 weeks. We are elated by your interest in the CPJC, and look forward to including your ideas and actions.
